Kitten Wellness

We would like to provide everything you and your kitten need for a healthy start. We LOVE seeing new kittens, but beyond the fun of the visit, it is a time to thoroughly examine your kitten for any health issues, as well as look for ear mites, fleas, and intestinal worms. We will discuss which vaccinations will be needed and consider when to test your kitten for diseases such as feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).

We will discuss grooming and nail trimming and how to get your cat to allow you to perform these regularly needed procedures. We will also discuss the timing for spaying or neutering and parasite prevention products.

At your kitten’s first visit, we ask that you bring all health papers you may have and a fresh stool sample to examine for intestinal parasites. We also recommend putting your kitten in a carrier for their safety.

Kitten Vaccinations

At your kitten’s first visit, we will work out a vaccination schedule to prevent potentially fatal and chronic diseases. We will also discuss other vaccinations needed based on your pet’s anticipated lifestyle. We individually cater recommended vaccines based on your pet’s individual risk.

Microchipping

We recommend that every kitten have a microchip implanted at some time in their adolescence. A microchip is a tiny implant (about the size of a grain of rice) that permanently identifies you as their owner. If a cat is lost, all animal controls, shelters, as well as veterinary clinics have microchip scanners that can identify who the cat belongs to. We use “Save This Life” microchips, which allow the finder to google the microchip, and the company will call you immediately when your pet is found.
