Skin and hair coat problems are quite common in dogs and cats. Our veterinarians perform thorough exams, which can include taking a detailed history of the problem, performing skin scrapings to rule out skin mites, skin cytology and cultures, as well as other testing for endocrine related diseases to help determine underlying causes for your pet’s itchy or inflamed skin. If allergies are determined to be the primary cause, we will discuss and offer options, such as food elimination trials, allergy testing and immunotherapy, various new and effective allergy medications, and topical treatments to help make your pet more comfortable.
