Many people believe that once you have the basic vaccines and have spayed or neutered your cat, they really don’t need yearly check ups. In fact, cats are actually known to hide many of their symptoms from their owners, and sometimes they are not brought in until disease is already advanced. We recommend yearly exams and tailor necessary vaccines based upon the cat’s lifestyle, as well as the owner’s wishes. We recommend yearly blood screenings to establish a baseline normal for your individual cat and for detecting disease earlier.
Rabies Vaccine – We offer a one and three year vaccine. This vaccine is required by law and must be given by a licensed veterinarian. Rabies is almost always fatal to animals and people…which is bad.
FVRCP – Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia-Chlamydia Psittaci Vaccine, a whole lot of stuff wrapped into this feline distemper vaccine! For adult kitties, the one year vaccine is good for three years…which is good.
FeLV – Feline leukemia is a virus that is transmitted through bites and scratches when kitties fight and one has the virus. It can also be transmitted from momma to kittens. The disease impairs the cat’s immune system and causes certain types of cancer. Those that go outside and have exposure to other cats of unknown origin should be vaccinated.
