Veterinary Therapeutic Laser

St. John Animal Clinic offers therapeutic laser treatment to treat a variety of conditions. This is a non-invasive, pain-free treatment for cats and dogs. We use therapeutic laser to treat a wide range of injuries and illnesses that can have a negative impact on your pet’s health and quality of life. It can also increase your pet’s joint flexibility and relieve joint pain, particularly in senior dogs and cats.

How Does Therapeutic Laser Work?

The therapeutic laser produces a high-intensity beam of light that deeply penetrates tissue and induces a biological response which leads to reduced pain, reduced inflammation, and speeds up the healing and recovery time. Treatment protocols are unique to each patient and condition. This is often used as an adjunct for pets with arthritis pain who are already on medications and need additional pain relief. It is also used for painful conditions for animals who may not tolerate or take medications readily. Other conditions, such as wounds and injuries, can also benefit from laser treatment. The treatment is usually performed every 2-3 days at the beginning and then weaned to a maintenance level. Benefits are usually seen within the first few weeks.
